The LIFE Step-WISE project launches a new call: six municipalities on European islands will be able to receive technical assistance to start energy planning in their territory.
A peak time for our team working on the energy transition in EU islands!
After the important experience as lead partner of the EU Facility NESOI, in recent weeks we have returned to meet experts, institutions, local communities and academics to discuss the future of energy transition in the small Mediterranean islands. We did this as a partner in the LIFE Step-WISE project, participating first at the Sustainable Island 2025 conference at the Green Med Expo & Symposium and then at the Green Salina Energy Days, in Sicily.
These were the perfect occasions to launch thecall for expressions of interest within the LIFE Step-WISE project, in which SINLOC is a partner.
We will select six municipalities that will be accompanied step by step in the initiation, development and updating of the Clean Energy Transition Plan (CETP) for their area.
Who are we looking for?
We are going to select municipalities that:
- They are on an island in the Mediterranean belonging to an EU country
- Have a total population of less than 10,000 inhabitants
- Have a good level of proficiency in English
- Can secure their commitment for the entire duration of the project (August 2025 – February 2026, 6 months)
n our approach, we would like to favor municipalities that:
- They are located on medium-sized islands (100,000 – 200,000 inhabitants)
- Have no previous experience of EU pilot projects
What are we offering?
- A 6-month license to the Step-WISE technical toolkit (*Sketchup PRO license required, estimated cost per license is €350/yr.
- Online workshop training sessions on how to use the technical toolkit in October 2025
- Step-by-step support of project experts to initiate, develop and update a Clean Energy Transition Plan
- Direct support and knowledge sharing from technical experts in the toolkit and clean energy transition planning process
