Development Plan for the Busseto Library (PR)

The Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Parma, owner of the Palazzo del Monte di Pietà in Busseto, manages the Library located inside the Palazzo where many spaces remain unused. The Foundation wanted to identify possible uses for these spaces. The Foundation, considering SINLOC's experience in projects concerning the construction and reorganisation of cultural, artistic and library facilities, identified the latter to define and structure possible interventions.

SINLOC, in order to support the Foundation, has:
- defined a development plan for the Library; - carried out a preliminary project for the use of the other spaces in the Palazzo del Monte di Pietà, paying attention to the costs for the Foundation; - researched elements that would increase the sustainability of the initiatives undertaken, in coherence with the territorial cultural system.

SINLOC supported the Foundation by carrying out project management activities aimed at managing and coordinating, on behalf of the Foundation, an advisory board of liaison with the relevant institutions for the purposes of defining and implementing the development project for the Library and Palazzo del Monte di Pietà in Busseto.
To this end, SINLOC participated in the working meetings and defined a local cultural map, considering the peaks of excellence at a provincial level and gathering ideas and proposals for development.

SINLOC also carried out the following activities: - Analysis of the city's cultural offer, organisation and costs of the Library's activities; - Benchmarking by examining library realities of similar size; - Definition of the Library's development plan and verification of the project's sustainability and formulation of proposals for the management model of the activities to be developed; - Preparation of the Economic and Financial Plan to sustain the activities.

SINLOC's intervention allowed the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Parma to identify possible interventions to re-functionalize the spaces of the Palazzo and to evaluate the initiatives to be implemented to reach the identified user segments. This made it possible to balance and select the actions to be implemented in order to offer a service tailored to local needs.
