Technical assistance in conducting a feasibility study for the design of solutions dedicated to the responsible management of labor in the vineyards of Alba, Langhe, and Roero.
The project aims to develop a territorial model for managing workers in the wine sector, focusing on social sustainability and combating exploitation.
As part of its partnership with Weco Imp. Soc., Sinloc is responsible for the technical and methodological oversight, including defining research questions, contributing to a benchmark analysis of best practices from other territories, and developing the business plan for the identified solution.

Requirements

The initiative, coordinated by Weco Impresa Sociale srl, co-promoted by the Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani and realised in technical collaboration with Sinloc, the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo and the Unione Giuristi della Vite e del Vino (UGIVI), aims to build a solution that guarantees experiences of legality and quality of work, while respecting workers' rights and regulations.

Features

The research focused on the analysis of the context and possible models of intervention, through three main activities: conducting interviews with 33 key stakeholders in the area (public bodies, companies, workers, non-profit organisations, trade unions and trade associations), the quantitative analysis of the phenomenon of labour employed in the Langhe and Roero, and the comparative analysis of good practices implemented in other agricultural districts, particularly in the Champagne area and in Northern Italy.
On the basis of the data collected, a participatory workshop was organised at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, involving over 60 local stakeholders (Piedmont Region, municipalities, Labour Inspectorate, wineries, contractors, workers employed in vineyard management, cooperatives and Third Sector entities, employers' associations and trade unions, wine school, bank foundations). The participants contributed to the construction of an organisational model on the basis of which the feasibility study and business plan will be developed.
