Technical feasibility study starting from consumption, energy needs and potential for sharing the City of Florence, thanks to the support of Fondazione CR Firenze.
Technical assistance in the choice of the primary cabin most suitable for the realization of the ERC, subsequently aggregating the data collected during the activity of citizenship involvement through public presentation and expression of interest.
Implementation of a forward-looking business plan useful for assessing the impact of the establishment of the ERC on the territory.
Support in the choice of the best possible legal configuration for the establishment of the REC.

Requirements

The energy transition of the Municipality of Florence has found in the RECs one of the most effective levers to accelerate the decarbonization path. Starting in 2023, and thanks to the support of the Fondazione CR Firenze, Sinloc has helped the city to identify an extensive sample of municipal buildings on which to build photovoltaic systems, and to create an extended energy community on large parts of the Isolotto and Rifredi districts.

Features

The energy community in development has a potential for installing about 8 MWp of new photovoltaic systems, with an annual output of 10,240 MWh. Numbers that, under the regime, could save 4,436 tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to the storage action of about 37,000 trees in a year. In total, more than 60 roofs of public buildings are involved

Results

The project analysed the energy needs of the districts, in particular the City and the University of Florence, and saw the activation of an agreement on territorial animation that led to numerous applications for membership from citizens and economic activities. The balancing scenarios were identified on two primary cabins, analyzing the economic and financial sustainability profiles of the initiative. The project is continuing towards the actual establishment of the REC.
